WPFL Gear to Kick Off Seventh Season

Hurst, TX. – With only 3 days until the Women’s Professional Football League kicks off its 2005 season, fans sit and wait anxiously for the most anticipated season of the nation’s longest operating women’s professional sports league.

Although one of the league’s former champions; The Northern Ice out of Wisconsin, has taken this season off to rebuild, the league has added six teams to their arsenal in the off season. To boast a competitive 18 teams nationwide.
Each of the league’s divisions has very solid competition this season, making the playoffs and the championship anyone’s game.

“Teams such as Cape Fear Thunder, and the New Mexico Burn had phenomenal turn out at their tryouts, and were really able to stack their rosters with some serious talent” Stated League Executive Director, Dawn Berndt. “Even though they are not eligible for playoff’s their expansion year, they could be a potential danger for veteran playoff teams shooting to make the playoffs again this season” added Berndt.

The WPFL has stated that with so many teams of unseen talent this is the year to expect the unexpected. This is the year that we are going to see some great football at every game.
