The Women’s Professional Football League was started in 1999 by two businessmen who thought that they would be able to make the sport feasible in today’s market. During the first season of the league there were only two teams who competed because of the lack of women who wanted to play football. Since the first year where only two teams competed the league has expanded quite a bit, but is now again in jeopardy.

The reason the league is in jeopardy again is because lack of teams in the league since most of the teams have moved to other leagues during the past two seasons. Unless the football league is able to get some more teams then they are going to have trouble keeping it going especially with all of the competition out there now with three other women’s football leagues.

The women’s football league has been watched by thousands of Americans in some of the best sporting venues in the country including the MetroDome and the AstroDome (both great baseball betting stadiums). The league is completely full contact and all of the women play the sport just like men do. About forty years ago there were hardly any women athletes due to most sports being very sexist, but the women’s football league has opened up many avenues as well as proved women can play any sports that men can.

For almost a decade now the season has started every year when fall begins and the women need to all train beforehand. One of the reasons why the league has had trouble surviving is because the women are only paid a small amount of money for each game they play which means they all need jobs away from the football field. This means that the women are busy trying to survive out there in a real job and still finding the time to compete on the weekends in the fall.

Even though the sport is technically a semi-pro sport because none of the players make there living from playing in the league, all of the women are still considered to be professional athletes. If you have never been able to watch a game yet then I would suggest you find out if you have a team in your area so you can watch a game this upcoming season. With only two teams left in the Women’s Professional Football League you might also need to check out some of the other leagues to find a game.

The other women football leagues which you should check out are the National Women’s Football Association and the Independent Women’s Football League since that is where 80% of the teams have moved too. The start of the season varies between the leagues and it allows you to watch both leagues if you would like since one starts in the fall and one in the summer. If you’ve enjoyed watching hard hitting men all these years playing football and have yet to hear about women playing the sport you should definitely check out a game. The cost is a lot more feasible for people and the sports gambling action is pretty good.
